  TheSNAP-tagproteinlabelingsystemenablesthespecific,covalentattachmentofvirtuallyanymoleculetoaproteinofinterest.TheSNAP-tagisasmallproteinbasedonmammalianO⁶-alkylguanine-DNA-alkyltransferase(AGT).SNAP-tagsubstratesarederivativesofbenzylpurinesandbenzylchloropyrimidines,Inthelabelingreaction,thesubstitutedbenzylgroupofthesubstratebecomescovalentlyattachedtotheSNAP-tag.
